thoughts while hiking the C&O

Hiking with PJ is like following a butterfly. He tends to bounce around on the side of the trail back and forth, as his imagination wanders. He starts and stops and starts again and looks at something. And asks a question -- and then he comes up with some random thought. Some video game he has been playing.   Or he's looking at  something and then asks a question about some odd thing.  What the difference is between pistols now and in the 15th century.   His brain races back and forth as we walk, cris-crossing itself.  It's all very tiring and entertaining than time.

PJ's first track meet!

Boy - we did not realize how long it takes for all those little kids to run around that little track.  Next time I must bring a book or 2.  But PJ had a great time!  And he had enthusiasm and spirit, and we are all proud of him.

Coffee with no cream

I am attempting to stop putting dairy in my coffee - supposedly, two weeks and you get you get used to it.  The upside would be that at, say 50 calories per cup, I could save roughly 54,000 calories per year.  Cowabunga!  

Grrrrrrr... Not a great week for weight loss!

Glass is half full: I jogged 2 miles on the treadmill yesterday, buring about 297 calories.

Glass is half empty: I woke up last night and ate half a box of Dos-I-Dos, for about 495 calories.

Oh snap! One step forward and two steps back.
